In July 2026, Ch. Muhammad Shakeel was appointed as a Member of the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) by the Federal Cabinet of Pakistan. The appointment was notified by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of Pakistan on 13 July 2026 (Notification No. F. 1(196)/2020-A.IV) under Section 130 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, read with the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (Appointments, Terms and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2024. On assuming this quasi-judicial office he stepped away from active legal practice, as a sitting Member of the Tribunal may not appear as counsel or advise clients.
Prior to his elevation to the Tribunal, Ch. Muhammad Shakeel was a highly experienced legal expert and a senior partner at Global Law Company. Over a career spanning 27 years, he built a wealth of knowledge and expertise across various areas of law.
